The course examines the major political, social, cultural, diplomatic, and economic developments of the period, with special emphasis on the Cold War, the Vietnam War, the social movements (minorities, women, and youth), and the political shifts (such as the conservative revival). Advanced knowledge of U.S. history is not required or expected. (Group I)
