An introductory course designed to prepare students for advanced literary study. The fundamental objective of this course is to study the development of the literary genres (theatre, poetry, narrative fiction and non-fiction) as they interrelate with the major historical, cultural and political events in Spain and Spanish America. The readings will be complemented by secondary sources, including works of art, films and other forms of modern media. Prerequisites: SPAN 250 or permission of instructor.
