ENG 354 - Contemporary British Literature Studies in British fiction, drama, poetry, and film from 1940 to the present, a time period characterized by changing understandings of gender and sexuality, unprecedented levels of immigration to the United Kingdom, and anxieties over Britain’s crumbling empire, all of which led to conflicting notions of British identity.
