This course provides a foundation for understanding the musical chronology and repertoire of the Western classical tradition as well as introducing basic methods of analysis in representative genres. Emphasis is also placed on developing familiarity with important reference tools for study in the discipline. Required for all B.A. and B.M. music majors during the second semester of the freshman year, also open to music minors. Prerequisite: MUS 110 , MUS 155 .
