MUS 300 10 - American Musical History Workshop (1.0 unit)
This course is designed to explore the historical and structural landscape of this rich American art form. Through lectures, reading, and listening to / watching excerpts from the genre, students will gain an overview of the progression of American musical theatre style and content from its earliest days through the present. Additionally, students will learn about the unique performance demands and stylistic requirements of the genre through the workshopping and presentation of representative songs from each era. Prerequisite: 1 semester of MUSP 113 , MUSP 011 , OR MUSP 001 or permission from instructor. (Group IV)
