In COMM 300 14, students will be introduced to many of the historical, social, and cultural movements in documentary film and video - including key film texts from documentary’s inception to the present. Stduents will compose essays about films screened in class and will also produce two documentary film/video projects over the course of the semester. This class will focus on documentary film and video from conceptual and theoretical frameworks, as well as examine media aesthetics through documentary film and video production. That is, students will learn about the origins of and specific movements and developments in documentary film and video, in addition to creating and producing documentary film and video projects.
