Introductory courses stressing four basic skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The Cyrillic alphabet, correct pronunciation, and introductory grammar are covered. Through an emphasis on active use of the language, students learn the practical application of Russian in day-to-day situations. Different aspects of Russian culture are also discussed. A variety of media including cassette tapes, videos, CD-ROMs, and the World Wide Web are used in the process of learning the language. Not offered 2017 -2018
