SJ 110 - Introduction to Social Justice 1.00
An introduction to social justice across class, race, gender, and sexuality. We will explore the various meanings of justice, how people are socialized to view social justice and identity, issues of power and privilege, and how various forms of justice are interrelated. Emphasis will be put on the impacts of activism and social movements in fighting for a more socially just world, including the roles of diversity, representation, allyship, and solidarity. Throughout the course, students will be introduced to a variety of community organizations and social justice activists in the local community and representing diverse experiences. Course projects will encourage students to engage with community activists and reflect on their own position in systems of power and oppression. Fall (Group I)
