ECON 260 - Current Economics Issues

This course examines a number of key issues with major socioeconomic implications, including issues of race, gender, health, education, climate change, globalization, and personal happiness. These are complex issues; however, a methodical analysis of each offers useful and revealing answers. Our analyses will draw on economic principles, empirical evidence, and political economic perspectives, to provide an explanation of the core concepts and connections, and to build a platform for further explorations, discussions, and reflections. Built on a foundation of economic principles, the ultimate goal of this course is to provide an understanding of economic forces that are shaping people’s livelihoods today and our society’s collective trajectory into the future. Prerequisite: C- or better in ECON 110. Prerequisite: C- or better in ECON 110 . Summer only. (Group I)
