Spanish for the Professions is an intermediate-level course that offers students communication skills for professional purposes. Emphasis is on language skills for a diverse array of professions, including, but not limited to, the legal field, the business world, public health, information technology and jobs in the humanities. It follows a task based approach in order to expose learners to real life situations, help them acquire specialized terminology and professional etiquette, and write technical documents. Project based assignments may include creating a professional dossier and preparing for and carrying out a successful professional interview in Spanish. Prerequisite: SPAN 225 or equivalent.
