EDUC 300 14 - Student Teaching Seminar: Special Education (K-12 Licensure)

(1.0 unit)

This seminar accompanies the student teaching experience in which students participate in two inclusion settings, each culminating in full-day classroom responsibility for an extended period of time. Major topics build from a framework of domains for teaching, including planning and preparation, establishing a learning environment, using multiple instructional approaches, demonstrating professional decision making and problem solving, and growing as a professional. Candidates will participate as a member of a teaching team that includes an Intervention Specialist in a planned experience at two levels selected from the following: elementary and middle/high school. In addition, candidates will receive feedback from focused observations throughout the semester to guide growth as a pre-service teacher. Candidates will also engage in self-assessment of progress toward becoming a competent, committed professional teacher for a diverse democratic society.
