PUBH 114 - Introduction to Public Health 1.0
This course will explore the historical development of the field of public health, landmark studies in the field, and key historical and contemporary public health initiatives. The course will provide students with a broad foundation in the 5 core areas of public health: biostatistics, epidemiology, health policy, social and behavioral health, and environmental health. Students will evaluate and apply their own health experiences in these areas to case studies and small group application tasks, and will use the Healthy People 2030 initiative as an organizer to understand key data and priority areas. Students who have already taken and passed HHK 114 will not receive credit for this course. Prerequisite: Freshmen, sophomores, or consent. F, S.
