This course will provide an introduction to the basic principles and practices of music education (e.g., history, philosophy, types of school programs, and organization of instruction). Reading and writing skills will be developed by reviewing current practices in music education pedagogy and performance (e.g., teacher observations, trade journals, online resources, and conference publications). The assignments and discussions in this course will provide opportunities for students to critically consider the issues related to their personal development as music teachers. Spring.
