The objective of this course is to build upon your knowledge of book arts as a creative artistic medium. The course places emphasis on experimenting with various binding techniques – including historical bindings and decorative techniques. Class instruction and assignments will be geared toward expanding upon the basic binding foundation through research and inventive problem solving. We will continue to develop the technical skills necessary to allow for creative freedom in your hand made books. The course will consist of image lectures, student presentations, class discussions and critiques, individual feedback sessions, along with advanced technical instruction. Prerequisite: ART 315 or instructor permission. Studio fee: $75
