EDUC 255 - Inclusive Classroom Management 1.00
In this course, teacher candidates will acquire the skills necessary to create inclusive learning environments for all students. Candidates will engage with multi-tiered support systems to understand positive behavioral intervention and supports (PBIS) that strengthen appropriate behaviors while also reducing challenging behaviors. Candidates will use their knowledge of social-emotional development, culturally sustaining pedagogy, and the impact of trauma and other environmental variables on the ability of students to learn effectively. Candidates will explore proactive classroom systems for establishing desired behaviors, evaluating direct intervention techniques for prompting, error correction, redirecting, and teaching replacement behaviors, and conducting data collection and analysis to identify functions of behavior and track progress. Relevant federal and state legislation, as well as ethical considerations will be discussed. Prerequisites: None Spring
