EDUC 311 - Elementary Math Methods (Grades P-5) 1.00
This course provides an introduction to teaching math methods appropriate for elementary school settings prekindergarten through grade 5. Topics include understanding developmental milestones, using math standards and practices to guide instruction, implementing research-based instructional strategies and supports, and developing and using formative and summative assessment strategies. Lesson planning will utilize an “assess-plan-teach-reflect” cycle. There is a 50-hour field experience candidates will complete during the same semester as this course. Prerequisites: B- or better in EDUC 251; Admission to the Teacher Education Program. Spring.
