ART 298 - Photography History 1.00
This course provides a critical overview of key figures, debates and artistic movements in the history of photography from the 1830s to today. We will address photography’s complex and confrontational relation to the visual arts as a technologically driven and commercially pervasive medium, but always in the context of the historical conditions that produced the images, and with attention to photography’s central role in mediating modern experience. No prerequisites.
