ENG 228 TL - British Images: Re-Placing Great Britain Travel Learning (0.25 units)
This travel component will enhance the regular semester class. Students will see the multiracial, postcolonial Britain they have read about all semester. During travel students will become better readers of texts including museum spaces (objects, identification cards, exhibits, buildings), film, city spaces (including memorials, buildings, shops and restaurants, and the ways in which people use space), and theaters. They will consider the ways in which the cities they see reflect (or do not reflect) the narratives of national identity they have read. They will learn more about these spaces, peoples, and histories from archivists, tour guides, and museums and will see the black British theater scene in person.
All of which are meant to provide depth and context for the texts they’ve read.
