BIOL 328 Bacterial Physiology
Although bacteria are microscopic, single-cell organisms, they must coordinate the same processes to grow and reproduce as any multicellular animal. In this course, you will learn how bacteria acquire energy and nutrients to build their cell structures and divide. We will explore how bacteria sense changes in their environment, respond to stress, and even communicate with each other to form communities. In the lab, students will conduct authentic research projects to characterize many of these physiological traits in environmental bacteria. Lecture and laboratory.
