DANC 105 Introduction to Dance Studies
A survey of dance’s varied facets and possibilities, including the ways it artistically, culturally, historically, scientifically, and creatively impacts how we understand ourselves, our communities, and global happenings. Through viewings, discussions, and in-studio movement practice and creation, students will consider the ways dance can be used for meaning making, cultural production, identity formation, and how it connects to theories of gender, race, nationality, globalization, commercialization, and more.
