ECON 387 Introduction to Game Theory
This course introduces students to the analytical tools of noncooperative game theory, with applications across economics, business strategy, political science, and everyday decision-making. Students will learn how to translate informal strategic situations into formal models and solve them using game-theoretic techniques. Topics include Nash equilibrium, mixed strategies, repeated games, auctions, bargaining theory, and games with incomplete or asymmetric information. The course also explores cooperative game theory, voting games, and evolutionary game theory. Emphasis is placed on strategic reasoning, modeling skills, and real-world applications, including auctions, bargaining, and innovation races.
