The diverse ways in which human cultures interact with their environments, focusing especially on how environmental, technological, and demographic factors affect cultures. The evolution of social/cultural adaptations and their consequences for changes in human ways of life are examined. Impacts of ancient societies and civilizations on the natural environment are covered.
