COMM 311 Special Topics in Communication

A variable-content course on topics of importance in communication studies featuring readings, research, and discussion in a seminar format. Topics may include race communication, social identity and crisis communication, gender and sexuality in communication, terrorism and communication, etc. Regardless of the overarching communication topic the course will predominantly include texts, ideas and content produced by and centing the lived experiences of historically minoritized groups (e.g., minoritized racial groups (Black, Latino, Indigenous people, etc.), LGBTQ community, language minorities, immigrant and refugee communities). Students may complete this course more than once for credit.
