NUTR 384 Field Experience
This field experience is designed for students to effectively and reflectively deliver health-related content in a community setting. The key organizer for this experience is the HHK Cooking Matters program. Students will utilize the facilitated dialogue techniques and adhere to Cooking Matters gold standards in the planning, organizing, and delivery of the program.
The course is aimed at a service-based experiential learning cycle, specifically working to facilitate students’ ability to create sound pedagogical strategies, implement those strategies, critically assess the efficacy of those strategies, and plan for future improvement. Aside from the Cooking Matters program delivery sessions which occur during afternoons and evenings (based on student availability), students in the course will meet weekly to debrief their experiences and plan for the next weekly experience. Students will spend time in the weekly seminar, as well as between class meetings, in planning and reflective work, in order to achieve the overall course objective of high-quality program delivery.
