Music Major

The Music major is offered for those students desiring serious study of music within a liberal arts degree program.
|
Major Requirements
The B.A. in Music major consists of 13 units:
- Two units of applied lessons in a principal applied area (200-level course each semester of residence)
- Music Theory and Aural Skills: MUS 155 , MUS 156 , MUS 165 , MUS 166 , MUS 255 , MUS 265 ,
- Music History: MUS 109 , MUS 357 , MUS 358
- MUS 256 + MUS 266 OR MUS 359
- One course chosen from MUS 347 , MUS 348 , and MUS 349 ;
- MUS 116 (Class Piano I)
- Two units of a large ensemble, determined by area of applied study
- One elective unit, which may be an academic or applied music course
Students must also meet the recital attendance and performance requirements as described in the Music Student Handbook.
