Major Requirements

11 to 13 courses, studio and art history courses combined.  These shall include 4 core foundation courses ART 110 , ART 111 , ART 114 , ART 115 . 

The declaration of major form will be submitted upon completion of ART 110 , ART 111 , ART 114  and ART 115  by the end of the sophomore year. 

Art history requirement, upper level: 5 courses - ART 345 , ART 347  and ART 470  - Art History Capstone are required. Two additional upper level art history courses or art history seminars from among: ART 250 , ART 350 (Pending CAP Approval), ART 300 3 , ART 342 , ART 343 , ART 346 , and ART 349  are required.

Studio requirement, media courses: 2 courses - two upper level studio art courses, either from 2D media or 3D media courses.

Candidates for the B.A. degree in fine arts with concentration in art history must complete all competency requirements as stated under REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL DEGREES. Courses taken credit/no entry may not be applied toward the major. 

Credits awarded for internships or apprenticeships, including ART 495 , can be counted among the 11 basic units for the major.
