Education, Multi-Age Major (PreK-12)

OWU’s teacher preparation program in Multi-Age Education is committed to helping you become a knowledgeable, caring, competent professional who is dedicated to nurturing the intellectual, social, and aesthetic growth of children through adolescents. Students who wish to pursue a teaching career in Pk-12 Drama/Theater, Visual Art, French or Spanish will major in Multi-Age Education alongside their content area.

Ohio Wesleyan offers programs preparing students for teacher licensure at the elementary school, middle school, and high school levels. Candidates working toward the Elementary Education, Inclusive Elementary Education, Middle Childhood Education, Special Education, Integrated Science, or the secondary content areas will pursue an OWU major in Education. Candidates pursuing Music Education will complete the Multi-age Education minor.

Major Requirements


plus additional methods course(s) (THEA 359 , ART 302 , EDUC 378) in the teaching area. 

The subject matter preparation of a student in the Multi-Age Education major includes completion of the content major which will meet specific content licensure requirements in the student’s teaching area. (Lists of course requirements in each of the teaching fields listed above are available in the education department.) Students majoring in education are encouraged to consult with the education department regarding the specific requirements for licensure in their area of interest, as well as for the appropriate sequence of courses.
