HIST 376 - The Emergence of Modern America, 1877-1929 The course examines the major political, social, cultural, diplomatic, and economic developments of the period, with special emphasis on the impact of urbanization, immigration, and industrialization, the emergence of the Populist and Progressive movements, the legacies of World War I, and the clash of cultures in the 1920s. Advanced knowledge of U.S. history is not required or expected. (Group I)
