MUS 256 - Music Theory IV (.50 unit)
Continuation. Harmonic progression utilizing the Neapolitan sixth, augmented sixth chords, and other chromatic chords; harmonization of figured bass lines, unfigured basses, and melodies; harmonic analysis; structural analysis of larger classic forms; composition of original phrases and periods in chorale style; introduction to techniques employed after Common Practice; sight singing; dictation of appropriate melodies, harmonic exercises, and rhythmic patterns. Prerequisite: a grade of C- or better in MUS 255 .
