EDUC 300 6 - Inclusive Instruction & Assessment in Early Childhood Inclusion Classrooms (PreK-5)


1.0 unit

Course explores methods for designing and implementing instruction and assessment across all content areas for young children with mild/moderate disabilities. Topics include individualized programming, designing and managing environments and materials, critical teaching behaviors, introduction to data based assessment, and skills and knowledge strategy in mathematics, reading, and writing. Formal and informal methods to assess students with mild/moderate disabilities which include standardized state and federally mandated alternative assessment practices’ are addressed. The role of assessment in the IEP and multifactored evaluation processes is also presented. Technology used to assist individuals with disabilities to access the general education curriculum including computer access, augmented and alternative communications systems, and adaptive reading and writing programs undergird all aspects of the course. C- or higher in EDUC 251  and admission to the teacher education program.
