SOAN 300 8 - Global Inequality and Justice 1.00
Globalization is dramatically changing the world around us, and in the process, creating vast inequalities of wealth and power. In this course, we will explore these inequalities across countries and regions of the world, and how global structures and processes shape dynamics of inequality within the US and Ohio. We will examine how inequalities intersect across class, race, ethnicity, gender, and sexuality through case studies on migration. This focus on migration will reveal how the US and Ohio are bound up within interconnected flows and networks of people, goods, and profits. Specifically, we will partner with a local NGO, the Immigrant Worker Project, to examine the real life stories and experiences of migrant agricultural workers within Ohio, and their connections to their home communities throughout Central and South America. No prerequisite. Spring (Group I)
