An introduction to the ancient world, including Egypt, Persia, Mesopotamia, and Mediterranean Civilizations (Phoenicia, Greece, Rome). Focuses on tracing broader development of civilizations and empires, with particular attention to society, religion, and economic development. Encounters and cultural influences between civilizations form the broad context for the course. This is a Foundation Course for Ancient Studies Majors.
