BIOL 336 Behavioral Endocrinology

The study of the complex relationship between the endocrine system and animal behavior. We will examine how hormones mediate behavior, and how behavior, in turn, can influence hormone levels. Examples from both vertebrates and invertebrates will be used to investigate diverse topics such as aggression, reproduction, parental care, sociality, sex differences, and stress. Students will learn a basic assay technique for circulating hormones and lead discussions of the primary literature.
