REL 290 Religion and Sexuality

This course explores the relationship between religion and sexuality in the U.S. In particular, we will pay attention to the intersections and tensions between the two, and explore how they have informed the development of one another. In order to do so, we will draw upon theoretical tools and methods from the fields of religion, gender, and sexuality studies to explore topics such as desire, identity, the body, community, politics, and representation. Issues of gender and race will also be addressed in the course.
