An investigation of the theatrical world of Shakespeare and his contemporaries. Readings will include representative works by Shakespeare and other playwrights from major genres associated with the Renaissance stage: e.g., revenge tragedy, city comedy, history play, and tragicomedy and romance. Students will read different plays in ENG 338 than in ENG 336. (Group III)
