ENG 340 - The Renaissance Author


This course uses Renaissance poetic theory and practice as a framework for studying major works of sixteenth- and seventeenth-century English literature. Among the contexts to be considered are humanism, classicism, court culture, theology, gender ideology, and print culture. Authors studied may include More, Shakespeare, Marlowe, the Sidneys, Spenser, Wroth, Jonson, Donne, Herbert, Herrick, Marvell, and Milton. Fall (Group III)
