Critical examination of economic, social and psychological factors associated with disease and health care in world cultures and in the U.S. Issues explored include death and dying, human adaptation, nutrition and food crisis, the stress response and its impact on health, comparative medical systems including alternative and folk medicines, the impact of modernization on health care. Students do an experiential or service related-project in a mental or physical health care setting.
