Acknowledgment of Receipt


OWU Staff and Administrators:

I acknowledge receipt of this Ohio Wesleyan University (OWU) Employee Handbook and Guide. (“Handbook & Guide”).

The contents of this “Handbook & Guide” are provided for informational purposes. Except for the at-will employment provisions, the Handbook is subject to amendment at any time. I agree to review the Handbook and adhere to the policies and guidelines it contains, along with any subsequent amendments or other University policies and procedures of the University.

It is specifically understood and agreed that the “Handbook & Guide” is for informational purposes only and is not intended to create a contract, nor is it a contract, of employment or continuing employment between the University and me. It is further understood that neither the “Handbook & Guide” nor any policy of the University is a guarantee or promise of employment or continuing employment.

I understand that I am not being hired for any definite period of time even though my wages are paid regularly. I further understand that I am an at-will employee and my employment can be terminated at any time, with or without cause and with or without prior notice either by the University or me. No promises or representations have been made to me that I can be disciplined or discharged from my employment with the University only under certain circumstances or after certain events.

University policy requires all employees to be hired at-will and this policy cannot be changed except by a written document signed by me and an appropriate Officer of the University, specifically changing my at-will employment status.

My employment status with the University has been fully explained, and I have been given an opportunity to ask any questions regarding University policies and my employment status. No representative of the University has made any promise or other statements implying employment will be other than what has been stated above.

 

OWU Faculty:

I acknowledge receipt of the Ohio Wesleyan University (OWU) Employee Handbook and Guide

As a faculty member, I understand that the employment terms and conditions outlined in my individual employment contract remain in effect and govern my employment.

The primary employment agreement between faculty and the University is the Faculty Handbook. At the same time, sections of the Faculty Handbook refer to the Employee Handbook and Guide and call upon faculty to observe all University policies published in the Employee Handbook (Section 3.5.4 of the Faculty Handbook) among other policies. It is therefore important that faculty be informed when there are changes to the Employee Handbook and also acknowledge that they have received notification of such changes. 

Because provisions of the Employee Handbook and Guide apply to your employment at Ohio Wesleyan, you agree to read the Employee Handbook and Guide and to follow the guidelines and policies set forth in the Employee Handbook and Guide and any amendments along with the other policies and procedures of the University in the context of the Faculty Handbook.
