Learning Objectives
Students will: Demonstrate a general understanding of the levels of biological organization from the molecular to systems level. Develop a strong factual foundation and a deeper understanding in a range of subjects in the biological sciences through advanced coursework. Apply the scientific method including making careful observations, asking questions, generating hypotheses, designing and conducting sound, well-controlled experiments, and analyzing and interpreting results, including the use of appropriate statistics. Demonstrate the ability to find, read, and critically evaluate scientific information including primary literature. Communicate topics in the biological sciences effectively. Major Requirements
Core requirements: or Four additional upper-level biology courses, at least 1 from each category below. (a) Organismal Diversity, Behavior and Ecology
(b) Physiology, Cellular and Molecular Biology
Additional requirements:
Two additional full unit courses in BIOL, CHEM, MATH, PHYS, NEUR, or ENVS 111, 112, 270, 275 or GEOG 112, 235, 245, 291/292/293, 347, 369, 375. Notes
Students must choose one Biology major, or one Biology minor, and can not combine them. |
